The Legion of Mary is an association of the lay faithful who work 2 hours every week to convert non-Catholics, to bring back lapsed Catholics, and to enkindle devotion to Mary in all. Led by a priest spiritual director, each group of the Legion, called a Praesidium, meets every week to pray and discuss the last week’s work and plan for the next week. Work is always done in pairs, where the less experienced can easily learn from those more experienced.
The Legion system has been used by ordinary Catholics just like you all over the world for 100 years. If you love the saving truths of our faith, the sacraments, and especially our Blessed Mother, and want to share these treasures with others, then the Legion is for you.
Over the regular and orderly alternation of meeting and work, the legionary is taught and guided by Mary. By putting his time and efforts into Mary’s hands, each legionary becomes capable of far more than he thought possible. The legionary entrusts all to Mary, gives her what little he has to offer, and lets her work through him, to find the straying sheep, to search for the lost coin. God made the salvation of the entire world depend upon Mary. Mary now depends upon us to bring that salvation to all men.
Come and visit a meeting, pray to Mary with us, and ask her what she would have you do.Our praesidium meets every Saturday at 7:15am in the meeting room below the rectory (if you park in the lot, go through the gates (to the left of the church), and go down the path to the left). Just bring yourself and your Rosary!
